Compostable A package that is certified compostable (e.g. BPI certification).
Composted Rate Quantity of material sent to composting facilities for composting compared to quantity of material generated and placed into the market
Current Package An existing package sold into the Canadian market.
Material Category Used to group similar material types together
Material type Used to determine the recovery and recycling rates for the type of material specified
Number of Units per Package Can be a single package or a multi pack containing several units
Package Attributes These are attributes that apply to your package: recyclable or compostable or reusable only, combinations will not be accepted
Package Notes Add any explanatory or additional details here that help describe or define the package
Potential Package A package in development and not currently sold into the market
Product Name/Description Use product and/ or brand name and / or package descriptor
Product Segment Select the appropriate segment or best fit for your product or package application
Product Family Select the appropriate family or best fit for your product or package application
Recyclable Materials that can be collected, processed and turned into new products. Materials that are accepted at a minimum of 50% of the recycling programs in Canada.
Recycled Material Use Use of Post Consumer Recycled material i.e. product created by consumers after it has reached the end of its use"
Recycling Recovery Rate Quantity of material sent to end markets for recycling compared to quantity of material generated and placed into the market
Reduction Assessment of package weight reduction compared to a previous version of the package e.g. light weighting a plastic bottle or carton or box, moving from a rigid package to a lighter weight flexible package.
Renewable Material Use Use of materials from renewable sources i.e. that have been wholly or partly derived from materials of biological origin
Reusable A package that can be reused multiple times for the same purpose
Size Input the product weight or volume or count
Total Weight Sum of the number of units multiplied by the weight of a unit
Unit of Measure Select metric or imperial units as appropriate
Weight per Unit Add the weight of a single package
